Explanation

Get + past participle is used to refer to the realization of an action. The subject of the sentence experiences the action of the verb.

Examples:
Bill and Sandy are going to get married.
Henry got interested in philosophy when he took a philosophy course in college. That is, Henry became interested in philosophy.

Sometimes when used in the continuous form (be+ getting + past participle), the meaning is that the action is becoming or beginning to be realized. For example, I am getting confused means I am beginning to be confused.
