Comparative Degree of Adjectives
The comparative degree of adjectives is used to compare two people, places or things.
To form the comparative of most adjectives of one syllable and adjectives of two syllables ending in Y, R, W or LE, we ad ER. Examples: fat-fatter, nice-nicer, calm-calmer, cold-colder, early-earlier, clever-cleverer, narow-narrower, simple-simpler. Mary is nicer than Helen. This street is narrower than that one.
NOTE: The word THAN is used with all the comparative forms.
